Because of the recent aid cuts, Village Enterprise has lost $2 million in funding for our work in Rwanda and northern Kenya.
The consequences of this unexpected funding loss are severe:
•15,000 families in Kenya and Rwanda who were scheduled to receive our program this year are now at risk of missing out entirely.
• $2 million in funding for our proven model has been lost for this year, with an additional $8.3 million over the next three years.
Despite these challenges, we are taking deliberate steps to strategically sustain our impact into the future—preserving what matters most and adapting where needed. That’s why we’ve launched a campaign to raise $2 million in strategic response funding to maintain momentum and protect our highest-impact work in Kenya and Rwanda during this critical time.

Our model is simple.
We equip the most vulnerable women, refugees, and youth with the training, startup cash, and mentoring to become entrepreneurs and launch successful businesses. Our entrepreneurs have been proven through high quality studies to increase their incomes, savings, assets, net wealth, nutrition, and food security—ultimately lifting themselves and their families out of extreme poverty.
