Phionah's Story
When we equip the most vulnerable women, refugees, and young people in rural Africa to start life-changing small businesses, they receive the tools they need to break out of extreme poverty.
Through Village Enterprise, Phionah gained hands-on business training and mentorship. Along with two other women, Annet and Zebiya, Phionah started a small retail shop in western Uganda. Their newfound skills and confidence helped their business to thrive—lifting their families out of extreme poverty.
They’ve recently launched two more businesses—a sugarcane farm and a goat-rearing enterprise.

Entrepreneurship can end extreme poverty.
Small businesses become more than just a source of income. They help our entrepreneurs do things that once felt out of reach—provide nutritious meals for their families, pay for their children’s education, access life-saving medicine and healthcare, save for emergencies, become leaders in their communities, and build brighter futures for generations to come.
Donate today and support entrepreneurs like Phionah, Annet, and Zebiya to start life-changing businesses.

Our entrepreneurship model is proven to lift families out of extreme poverty—for good.
